Coyote behind lillies looking over it's shoulder at a bluebird. This painting had so many incarnations that there is really nothing in it that remains from it's original version. When I finally painted the lillies, that changed everything. I wanted a wild dog creature in it, and I decided to have the coyote looking back over it's shoulder at something. The something had been another coyote behind the tree, then a hummingbird, and finally the bluebird. Last to arrive were the sun-touched hills, the the lavender clouds on the bright blue sky. The painting developed from bottom to top, from the most forefront to the most distant.
