Desert Horse

Write a Review

Red and orange desert imagery of mountains and cactus with an unidentifiable animal loping through the scene. I had been on a trip to southern France to see some of the ancient cave paintings so I had those images in my mind when I returned. The loping animal came from my memories of the cave art, and I wanted to paint an animal running in a setting that seemed like a rock wall, but had depth, so I placed it in a desert scene then added the cactus for color and contrast. I intentionally made the animal some kind of hybrid-, a sheep, or coyote, or horse, or all three- I liked it being uncertain and kind of primitive. 911 32nd Ave. Seattle, WA 98122 206 941 9663
