Two dogs, one black and furry Chow mix(black tongue), one a cheerful Pitbull mix, sitting by the wall of their red house, one on the green grass the other in front of the red wall. I visited these dogs at home, and they were both quite friendly and delightful even though I was told that they were guard dogs. Their human companion told me some funny stories about them. One time she acted like she left the house, but went around to the side of the house to peer through a small window to see what they did with their time once she was gone. She saw them sitting in front of the cabinet where the treats were kept, doing their repetoire of tricks. The painting was a gift for her husband. Compositionally I thought it worked to split the painting in half, giving them each their own backdrop but having it still be a shared environment.
